My Skincare Routine!

I’m not so obsessed with skincare as I am makeup, although I do like to try and take care of my skin. My skincare collection isn’t as huge as some peoples but I thought I’d share my routine with you!
I’d love to say I have a normal skin type, lovely clear and blemish free, well I don’t! It’s very much combination, I have an oily T-Zone, but towards the end of the day my cheeks can feel tight and dry. I suffered with slight acne in my teens and as a result I have a little scarring on my cheeks and I still get the occasional breakout! Now that I’m approaching 30 *groans*, I’m aware that I should be using anti aging products!

Morning Cleanse

In the shower every morning I cleanse twice and at the moment I am loving the No7 Beautiful Skin Foaming Cleanser, it’s a very lightweight formula with a delicate fresh scent, perfect for the Morning!

Morning Treatment
After I have cleansed I apply the Manuka Doctor Skin Treatment Serum under my moisturiser, this is an oil-free, lightweight serum which helps skin like mine by smoothing the skins texture and reducing the appearance of scarring and fine lines. I am loving this at the moment, my skin feels smoother and it seems to have reduced redness on my cheeks.

After having around 4 years of broken sleep due to my young children, I have developed quite dark circles under my eyes and I have recently noticed fine lines, so I like to use a good eye cream. I use the Origins GinZing  Eye cream. Due to the caffeine, ginseng, and magnolia extract, this beautiful cream brightens the skin and reduces puffiness. It really freshens and adds radiance to the delicate eye area!

Morning Moisturise
Origins VitaZing SPF15 Eneryg Boosting Moisturiser  £26

Being so fair, I must use a moisturiser with an SPF. I love the Origins VitaZing SPF15 Engery Boosting Moisturiser, this adds radiance and protects the skin with the SPF. It also has a very sheer tint to it, which is great for when I want a very light coverage to wear on its own when I go to the gym!

Night Cleanse
Kleenex Facial Cleansing Wipes £2.99

I’m really lazy when it comes to cleansing at night, I always remove my makeup though as there is nothing worse than waking up with sticky eyes and a huge spot as a result of clogged pores. However If I’m not having a bath in the evening, I will just use a face wipe. I know this is terrible and they don’t remove nearly enough makeup as needed, I just can’t be bothered by the time I’m ready for bed. When I have a Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth cleanser on the go, I will make the effort. However right now I have run out so I’m using the new Kleenex wipes, they are quilted and super soft and really moist. So happy using these at the moment.

Night Treatment
Sanctuary Warming Microbrasion Polish £11.99

I like to exfoliate 3 times a week, my skin can look a little dull if I forget to. I love the Sanctuary Warming Micro Brasion Polish, this is possibly one of the best exfoliators I used (alongside Origins Never A Dull Moment). You apply it to damp skin, the very fine yet thick, dense scrub warms when massaged into the skin. This contains rich Beeswax, jojoba and wheatgerm which helps hydrate the skin.
Soap & Glory The Fab Pore Facial Peel £8

I also like to use a mask twice a week. At the moment I’m using the Soap & Glory The Fab Pore Facial Peel. This mask contains antioxidants Vitamins E & C, Salicylic Acid which loosens up the dead skin cells and Kaolin Clay which soaks up the excess oil.  This is definitely for an oily, problem skin, so I only use this on my T-Zone, I do occasionally have open pores on my cheeks, although I feel it would be a little harsh on those areas. You rub a small ‘grape sized dollop’ onto the face and massage until the green beads have dissolved and leave on for up to 15mins. I only leave this on for around 5-10 mins as it does actually feel quite astringent, but I really does feel like you’re getting a deep cleanse. I wouldn’t recommend this if you have sensitive skin!
Kadria Balancing Face Oil £12 for 15ml £24 for 30ml

Before I moisturise at night I use the Kadria Balancing Face Oil. This contains Egyptian Blackseed oil which has traditionally been used in the Middle East to heal skin conditions.  The essential oils of palmarosa and rose geranium are balancing oils - helping to control sebum production.  Also Frankincense and Neroli helps regenerate the skin and uplift the spirits.
Since using this face oil, my skin has felt so healthy and supple, I feel that it has improved the elasticity in my skin. This is also great for women who are experiencing dry taught skin before or after pregnancy. Love this!!

Sudocrem  £2-£5

Cheryl Cole is a big fan of Sudocrem apparently and if its good enough for her it’s good enough for me! It was a bit odd getting my head round it to start with as it is traditionally used on babies bottoms to heal nappy rash, I used the stuff on my kids and it works wonders. However due to it’s antiseptic properties it’s great used on acne and blemishes. So when I feel a big’un brewing I dab some on the inflamed area and by the morning the redness and swelling has reduced!!

Night Moisturise
Trilogy Ultra Hydrating Face Cream £24.50

For the last 6 months I’ve been taking medication before bed for migraines and as a result, during the night my skin and mouth get really dry, so before bedtime I like to apply a rich cream. So at the moment I am using the Trilogy Ultra Hydrating Face Cream. This contains Manuka Honey, which is rich in vitamins and minerals, Evening Primrose and coconut which helps hydrate and soften, and lavender which helps relax and calm the senses. Luckily it doesn’t smell too strongly of lavender as I’m not generally a fan. This helps my skin feel hydrated and human again!!

I know my skincare routine may look a little all over the place due to products for oily and also dry skin being used! But since having children, my hormones have been all over the place which seems to have affected my skin mostly and also medication I've been taking, I feel these products have really helped.

What is your skincare routine like? What other products would you recommend?

  1. I have an obsession with the holy grail of clear, luminous skin (mine is far from this) so I'm a sucker for anything which promises results! Currently I'm using Bioderma to remove makeup, followed by Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, Decleor Tonifying Lotion I'm not convinced by the benefits of toner but it gets rid of the horrible tast of bioderma if you get it on your lips!) and then either Elemis Maximum Moisture Day cream in the morning, or Elemis Tri-Enzyme resurfacing serum and night cream in the evening.

I use the matching TriEnzyme gel mask about once a week, and clarins gentle refiner exfoliating cream or decleor's essential ylang ylang balm and aromessence. God that sounds like a lot too. Like you I've got really variable skin. Today it's oily as anything, yet two days ago it was dry as a bone. My major problems are blocked pores. If I use anything particularly heavy or greasy I end up with a tonne of black heads and lumps, its awful. I can really recommend the Elemis Tri Enzyme range, it's anti aging, really exfoliating and if you have it as a salon facial it is incredible. I might give your eye cream a go as I've realise I'm missing night cream entirely from my routine, and I'm getting fine lines and dark circles these days! Arghh!

  2. My skincare routine is a bit all over the place at the moment too! I am currently pregnant so have made a conscious effort to take better care of my skin but i'm using bits from all different ranges but it has really worked wonders for me so far and I don't think i've had a single problem with my skin since becoming pregnant..it's my hair that is the issue for me it's gone crazy!

I have stuck to ASDA's own brand Skinsystem Cleansing Facial Wipes for sensitive skin for a while now. You also get for normal/combination skin which I have also used and both are just as gentle as each other but I prefer the sensitive for the fact they are fragrance free. I exfoliate 3 times per week using St Ives Gentle Apricot Scrub (another one for sensitive skin!) but you can't go wrong with this one I will definately be buying again and have recently started using Neal's Yard Rose Moisturiser for Normal skin which i'm liking but it doesn't contain SPF so will be changing that soon. Then maybe once every week or two I will do a mask I use Elemis Herbal Lavender Repair mask to purify and draw out any oil ....and that's it!
This will probably change after baby though, but maybe I will get my shiny healthy hair back???!! Not likely..haha :)

  3. I sleep with a sudocrem mask on my face at night. But I'm mad for the most part so I probably wouldn't take my advice.
